Are You Connected?

I became a Health Coach because of my own health and wellness struggle.  For most of my life I suffered from digestive issues and anxiety.  I had the mindset that there wasn't anything I could do about it.  It wasn’t until my mother was diagnosed with Celiac Disease that my perspective started to shift and I started to get curious about how the food we eat affects us.

My mother's health improved dramatically when she started eating foods that her body processed well and I became interested in finding the root cause of my digestive issues.  I also wanted my emotional/mental health to thrive.  I started to pay attention to what I ate and how it made me feel both physically and mentally.  I noticed a drastic positive change in my digestion and my mood when I ate foods that my body processed well.

After realizing such a significant difference in my health, I wanted to share my experience with others and empower them to make changes to improve their own health and wellness.  So I started to look for a new career path that would allow me to do this.  I discovered the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and was drawn to the whole person approach of their health coaching program so I enrolled.

“A Health Coach is a wellness professional whose main goal is to guide clients to reach their health and wellness goals, whether that’s sleeping better, boosting energy, weight loss, stress management, and so much more. Health Coaches create a safe space for their clients to explore their health, facilitating behavior and lifestyle change that can be sustained for the long-term.

Using their nutrition and coaching education, Health Coaches help their clients discover which foods and lifestyle choices makes them feel best. Most importantly, Health Coaches take a holistic approach to health, not just focusing on food, but also all the other areas of life that can support and nourish your overall health, such as career, spirituality, relationships, and environment. We call these “primary foods,” and embracing this unique IIN concept in their work is what sets IIN Health Coaches apart.”  IIN

I now empower people to embrace which foods and lifestyle choices help them feel their best.  Focusing on all the areas of life that support and nourish one’s health is especially intriguing to me as there was a point in my life when it didn’t occur to me that being unhappy in my career or relationships mattered.  Or that my heart intelligence or my desires were anything more than just frivolous wishes.  In fact, I didn’t even have clear desires and I lived my life from the perspective of just letting life happen to me instead of being honest and clear with myself about my role in creating the life I wanted to live.

When I read “The Desire Map” by Danielle LaPorte, I felt an immediate connection... it was like I had finally received permission to live in a way that felt natural to me.  I decided to become a Desire Map Facilitator and a Heart Centered Facilitator.  The Desire Map is all about getting clear on how you want to feel in order to live your best life.  When we know how we want to feel, it’s much easier to make decisions and live in alignment with our desires.  Heart centered living is about accessing the greatest resource and intelligence we have - the heart.  This allows us to live a more intentional and authentic life by connecting to our inner essence and truth.

I lived so much of my life disconnected from body, mind, & heart and I want to help others reconnect to themselves as I did.  If this resonates with you, let’s talk!  Email me to schedule a consultation!

Well wishes,
Sara
